GUSTAVSBERGS
KONSTHALL
Gustavsbergs
Konsthall is one of Europe’s leading venues for contemporary
crafts. The gallery was started in 2007 and has established
itself as an influential player and an important platform for
contemporary crafts at an international level. The gallery seeks
to promote discussion within the field of crafts, to contribute
to increased knowledge and dialogue and to strengthen the craft
arts as a specific discipline. The exhibition programme covers
all types of craft materials, presenting both internationally
recognized craftspeople as well as the avant-garde of a younger
generation. Exhibitions form the basis of our activities and
from them we develop educational programmes as well as organizing
seminars, publications, lectures and catalogues. The educational
programmes at Gustavsbergs Konsthall are based on active participation
and are either part of an exhibition or connected with the exhibition.
Besides guided tours and workshops for children and school classes,
there are guide lectures for adults and visiting groups.
Activities
at Gustavsbergs Konsthall also include a comprehensive shop
selling carefully selected work from leading Swedish craftspeople.
Covering everything from classical designs to conceptual items
the shop acts as a constantly renewing forum for contemporary
crafts with the emphasis on Swedish ceramics and glass art.
Gustavsbergs
Konsthall was initiated by Dag Landvik and, in its first years,
was financed by Gustavsbergs Hamn AB. Since 2011 the gallery
has been run as a non-profit organization with support from
the Municipality of Värmdö, the Swedish Arts Council
and other sponsors.
