This is the 6th edition av the this Triennale européenne du bijou contemporain, organized by WCC-BF (World Craft Council Belgique Francophone) situated in Anciens Abattoires in Mons, Belgium. Invited to participate this year, together with the host Belgium, are France and Sweden.
The exhibition opens in Mons October, 28, until February, 4, 2018. The 17th of October the exhibition arrives in Sweden and Gustavsberg Konsthall and lasts until May. After the summer it travels further to Paris.
The curators Françoise Vanderauwera, Brune Boyer and Sofia Björkman have chosen 15 jewellery artists from each country. Sofia Björkman writes about the Swedish choice:
"For the sixth European Triennial for Contemporary Jewellery in Mons, Belgium, I have followed what has been done in the last three years by artists who have their base in Sweden, who call themselves jewellery artists, work in the discipline of jewellery art, make art with jewellery references or in other ways say that they use art jewellery as their visual expression. Themes that I have seen in several artists’ work have been the basis for the selection. But the themes are undetermined, works can be seen from different perspectives, materials and techniques mix with unique expressions as a result. Variation and rapid changes can be seen as typical of our time. Likewise, the artists' versatile approaches to establish contacts with an equally diverse audience"
The collaborating organizer in Sweden for WCC-BF is Konsthantverkcentrum, govermental organization for craft, together with Gustavsbergs Konsthall.
